Project Description:
Dominated by the agricultural sector, Moldova is still one of the poorest countries in Europe. 16 per cent of its 4.4 million inhabitants have already left in search of better living conditions. Despite an emerging private sector, the country’s economic strength is further weakened by corruption and by the long-standing and unresolved conflict over the region of Transnistria. Due to relevant industrial production located within this region, it plays a major role for the economic development. Romania’s accession to the EU has made Moldova an EU neighbour. It is therefore integrated in the EU’s Neighbourhood Policy (NEP), which aims to promote closer relationships. Due to that, the overall objective is to improve the political, social, economic and ecological situation, with a commitment to sustainable development. In this case, improving the vocational training system at selected vocational schools in Moldova in wood, metal and building trades.
Services provided:
Project Evaluation conducted by CEFE International: Final evaluation of a project promoting private sector cooperation in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) development. As five TVET schools have been successfully upgraded in three professions, the market orientation deserves to be improved in the future.
