Vocational Education and Youth Employment
Despite an improved growth rate, the economy of Togo is developing only slowly and there are not enough jobs for the country’s young women and men. Meanwhile, the vocational training system is unable to provide the skills of graduates that the formal and the informal economies demand. Current approaches for youth employment are not adequately coordinated; nor are they based on any findings that relate to the labor market. The project’s objective aims at building a critical mass of CEFE trainers in Togo to improve business development services offered by private sector development agencies in Togo, in order to build the capacities and economic sustainability of micro and small businesses and small business associations in Togo. This includes the thematic integration of employability and self-employment/start-up into vocational training.
To fulfil the projects´ objective, CI conducts a Training of Trainers (ToT) for 25 participants, including the following services: planning, preparation and conduction of ToT and coaching sessions / selection, contracting, preparation and assessment of ToT participants / Collection of exercises, seminar program and development of hand-out material in French / preparation of report. The CEFE formation s´aim is as follows: Participants are able to conduct a training with the target group/ participants experience the application of the learnt material in real life/ participants get to know the organizational and logistic background of a CEFE training course so that they can independently organize and promote such courses within their context.
